Drive trains
Direct Drive train- This is when the wheel is DIRECTLY attached to the motor there are ups and downs it allows more power but reduces speed
Geared Drive train- This is when you attach the motor to a gear that is attached to two additional gears which are attached to the wheels. This has the opposite advantages and disadvantages with, it allows more speed because there are more rpms and but it cuts down on power because there is only one motor on each side.
tumbler v protobot
The Tumbler was just about as basic as it gets it was a direct drive train and had no manipulation parts. The protobot got a little more advanced when it came to the build. It was a geared drive which made it faster even though that there was an arm on the top. And honestly I cannot think of a way which would make these builds better.
9-11 Blog
I was pretty satisfied with our inventory and how it was organized mostly because we had every thing that we needed for our first build.
9-10 Blog
Josh and I were the ones who focused on the construction and wiring of the robot when Spencer and Aaron focused on the ideas. I chose this group becasue they are my best friends and even if we goof off we can get work done together. The past few days we just got our organization down.
